Who, what and why?

Questions about who am I, what is this site for and why did I do what I did do, may or may not be answered on this page. The who is probably answered, as much I can be bothered to do, in the Not related section, the what is extensively discussed in the Clueless section and the why is partly in the Clueless as well as the English and Design sections.

Not related to O, Chu or Chibi Totoro

Well, I can definetely say for sure that I am not related to any of the three Totoro's at least as they are shown in Tonari no Totoro (1988). A couple of years ago, I got employed in a company where unfortunately there already was someone with a name very close to mine. After a period where I mostly (he to a lesser degree) got his email, it started to become a problem, so I was asked if I had any middle name, which I did not. Then I was asked if I could come up with a middle name, that I could get registered with as my mail name. Certainly, and after a couple of days I chose a fairly lesser known name inspired from an old (nearly 20 years) anime movie. It had no nasty or naughty meaning in any language, that I could think of, so it seemed quite safe. The rest (as they say) is history, other problems arose with vacation mixups, paycheck correction mixups, and today I am officially known in the company (it says so on my paycheck) with my extra middle name.

About a year ago I then decided to acquire the domain name (which was free). Mostly because my old domain was getting severely spammed (I made the rookie mistake of having my real email address visible on the home page), and because I wanted to close down that domain for a period. Due to the fact that shortly after that the old movie came up in the cinemas again, I then lend the domain (or rather I redirected to another site) for a couple of months to the site for the movie.

Clueless

I found it to be time to play a bit around with web coding again. Also I want somewhere where I can self-indulge in my small hobbies: Reading, listening to music, watching movies, taking pictures, Japan and other stuff that are part of who I am.

English

English was chosen over my native Danish to force me into expressing myself in English. Over the years I have noticed a degradation in my usage of English. Lack of words, bad sentencing and talking and writing myself into incomprehensible corners from hence there is no escape. In summary, I badly need to practice my English, just look at this site and my rantings.

Design

The template used for this site is from Open Source Web Design (OSWD). The specific template used is designed by Nicolas Fafchamps. It was chosen for its calm and relaxing look. I have always liked the colour grey and to use it as a base for the web pages seemed very enticing and logical when first I saw Nicholas Fafchamps' Gray Sea template..

The template originally used as basis for this site is for free use. If you should find the template something you would like to use, then please base your design on the original template by Nicholas Fafchamps, not on the mess I have made of it.

The signature picture on top of all the pages is a view from Tokyo Tower. I took the picture in March 2007.
